Palletized Silt Sock
A silt sock is a type of contained compost filter berm. It is a mesh tube filled with composted material that controls runoff erosion and retains sediment and pollutants, but allows cleaned water to run through.
Silt socks are filled with various materials, including municipal yard trimmings, separated municipal solid waste, and bio solids. They can be vegetated or unvegetated.
Vegetated (seeded) filter socks can be left in place after construction to provide long-term filtration of storm water as the vegetation grows from the anchored filter sock into the slope.
Unvegetated filter socks are often cut open when the project is completed, and the compost is spread as mulch. The mesh sock itself is biodegradable, too.
Because silt socks are flexible, they can also be placed in different configurations and difficult locations (like craggy slopes). They are also available in various diameter sizes.
Silt sock is easily positioned and fixed into place with stakes driven through its center at regular intervals along its length.
Who needs a Silt Sock?
You do, if you want to avoid a fine. Regulatory agencies such as EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation), and others enforce specific erosion control requirements which are usually pertinent to any construction site.
Whether you’re a developer, excavation contractor, or an engineer, erosion control is a responsible and necessary part of construction practices.
Even if you’re only replanting your 1/4 acre backyard, your local code inspector will want to see erosion control in place.

Why our Silt Socks are better.
Erosion control is expensive. The EPA requires it. We make it affordable. How? By pre-filling, putting them in a super sack, and palletizing, so they’re ready for you to pick up when you need them. You don’t need to drag any special equipment to your property or job site.
Just stop by our facility, pick up what you need, and go. We’ll even help you load your truck.
A pallet of silt sock is placed in a super sack so that you can store them outside until you need them. That means more flexibility and less waste.
Filled socks are from 8″ to 24″ in diameter, depending on your requirements.
8″ sock loads 200 ft./pallet
12″ sock loads 110 ft./pallet
18″ sock loads 55 ft./pallet
24″ sock loads 30 ft./pallet
A silt sock pallet is placed in a super sack for outside storage. Stakes included. Our product is prepared with quality ingredients, making it safe and reliable, and loaded carefully onto pallets, making it easy to unload in the field.
We take the headaches out of obtaining the silt socks you need for your project. And we are able to respond quickly, even to highly customized orders.
